Equipping Effective
Inclusive Disability Ministry
Miracle 139 began in 2007 when Founder, Linda Martin, realized there was a huge disparity between the number of families impacted by disability in the community, and those attending church. Even the megachurch she was a part of didn’t have a disability ministry program, as there weren’t any children with disabilities coming on Sundays. It was a heart-breaking realization that if a church is not prepared to meet their needs, families with a child with disabilities probably won’t come. This began the journey of Miracle 139 to help churches, both in the U.S. and abroad, become welcoming places for individuals with disabilities.
One of the major challenges experienced by churches with a heart to include those with disabilities is the need for training. Training during ministry development; training during the constant on-boarding of new volunteers; and on-going training for all of the team members in children’s, youth and disability ministry who impact the weekly inclusive experience for those with disabilities.
It is the heart of Miracle 139 to share our love for disability and the church by providing access to quality training that is accessible whenever and wherever it is needed. Our hope is that one day ALL churches would be intentionally prepared to welcome those with disabilities.
